A warm bowl of soup is always a welcome delight when the rainy season starts. Just one sip is enough to wash away the exhaustion from the entire day, especially if the rain happens to leave you drenched either on the way to work or as you head back home.

With a delightful broth that is filled with the subtle sweetness of vegetables, the salty addition of fish sauce, and the savory juiciness of the meatballs–this Bola Bola Sotanghon will make you slurp both the soup and noodles without a single guilt.

Ingredients
  

Meatball Mixture:

  • 300 g. ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, mashed
  • 1 pc. onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup carrot, grated
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 pcs. egg
  • 1 Tbsp. oyster sauce
  • Season with salt

For Sauté:

  • 1 pc. onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup carrot, sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 - 7 cups water
  • 1 pc. Maggi Magic Chicken Cube
  • Add the meatballs
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. patis (or fish sauce)
  • 100 g. Vermicelli noodles
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 cup celery leaves

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl with the ground pork, add the garlic, onion, carrot, all-purpose flour, and eggs. Season with salt, pepper, and oyster sauce. Mix it all together. Set aside.
  • Mince the onion and garlic. Julienne the carrot.
  • In a pot, heat the oil. Sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Season with salt. Stir it all together.
  • In a pot with boiling water, add the Maggi Magic Chicken Cube.
  • When the aromatics have softened, pour the stock into the pot. Make sure to get everything in the pot, along with the parts of the Maggi Magic Chicken Cube that has not yet dissolved. Add more water if desired.
  • Roll the meatballs by hand and drop it into the soup. Leave it to simmer for a few minutes.
  • While the meatballs are simmering in the soup, chop the cabbage and add it into the soup. Stir.
  • Season with fish sauce. Add the vermicelli noodles. Mix. Season with black pepper.
  • Finish with celery leaves.
