Buttered Chicken
Ingredients
Marinate:
- 700 g. chicken
- 1 sachet Maggi Magic Sarap
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
Batter Mixture:
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 pc. egg, whole
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 cup cold water
- Season with salt and pepper
- Oil, for frying
Garlic Butter Mixture:
- Oil, for sautéing
- 8 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
- Season the chicken with Maggi Magic Sarap, paprika, and black pepper. Mix it all together. It is best to prepare it at least an hour or the night before to let the marinade permeate through the chicken. Set aside.
- While letting the marinade seep into the chicken, prepare the batter mixture. In a bowl, add flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, egg, baking powder, and water. Mix until you achieve a nice consistency. Add it to the chicken. Toss until all the chicken is fully covered in batter.
- In a pan, heat the oil. Once the oil is hot, start frying the chicken. Make sure to move the chicken around so everything cooks evenly. Cook the chicken for 10 minutes or until it becomes golden-brown and crispy.
- When the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and place it in a colander to let the excess oil drip off.
- After transferring the chicken, start preparing the garlic butter sauce. Save a bit of the oil from frying the chicken and add the garlic. Toast it, so the oil can be infused with the flavor of garlic.
- Before the garlic becomes golden, add the butter. Season with black pepper. Let it cook for a few more minutes, then add the fried chicken. Toss it, until the chicken is fully coated in the sauce.
Sometimes, adding a flair to the simple and plain fried chicken makes the difference. It needs to be coated in a delectable layer of sauce that will make its flavor pop out even further. With this garlic butter sauce over the chicken, and spilling onto the plate, you and your family can have a little more fun by scooping this tempting sauce onto a piece of your chicken.
