Ingredients

  • 6 pcs. saba banana
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • Cooking oil, for frying
  • 2 Tbsps. sugar, topping

Instructions

  • Mix the dry ingredients. In a bowl, add the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, baking powder, and water. Mix until it becomes paste-like. Set aside.
  • Slice the saba banana into 3 or 4 pieces. The banana can also be sliced in a way that it has an unsliced part on its edge, then opened into a fan.
  • Once all the saba bananas have been sliced, place it into the batter. Make sure every part of the banana is coated.
  • In a pan, heat the oil. Fry the coated bananas until it becomes golden-brown. Make sure to flip it when one side starts to become golden.
  • When the bananas are cooked, remove them from the pan and place them on a plate. Top it with a layer of sugar.

Rather eating banana by itself, coat it in a batter, and fry it to perfection. Doing this will not only give the banana snack more textures, it will also enhance the distinct flavor of the fruit. Try cooking Maruya, then explore the different ways to make banana an even more enjoyable snack.
