Monkey Bread

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ cup fresh milk
  • 2 tsp. instant dry yeast
  • 1 pc. egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ¼ cup Unsalted Arla Butter

For Dusting:

  • Flour, for dusting

Cinnamon Caramel Syrup:

  • ½ cup Unsalted Arla Butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsps. cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

For Finish:

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, combine fresh milk, dry yeast, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix, then pour it into the dry ingredients within the mixing bowl. Mix it on medium speed for 5 - 10 minutes. You will know it’s ready when the dough no longer sticks to the bowl.
  • Prepare the Unsalted Arla Butter. Chop it into smaller pieces. Once the gluten in the dough has been fully developed, add the Unsalted Arla Butter. Slowly incorporate it into the dough.
  • Remove the dough from the mixing bowl. Mold it into a ball, then place it back in the bowl to let it rest for an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • When the dough has almost doubled in size, it is time to make the cinnamon caramel syrup. In a pot, melt the Unsalted Arla Butter. When the butter has melted, add the brown sugar, salt, cinnamon powder, and vanilla extract. Once the butter has fully melted, transfer it to a bowl. Set aside.
  • Generously coat the bundt pan with butter. Set it aside.
  • Once the dough has double in size, dust your work surface with flour. Start to work with your rested flour. Spread it out. Cut it into pieces. Roll the small pieces of dough into a ball.
  • Make sure the cinnamon caramel syrup is already at room temperature. Drop the dough balls in the bowl and coat it in syrup. Once coated, place it in the bundt pan. Make sure the distribution of the dough balls are even. When all the dough balls have been placed in the bundt pan, leave it to rise for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven at 170 °C.
  • Place the bundt pan in the oven. Let it bake for 45 - 50 minutes.
  • Once cooked, remove it from the oven. Grab a plate and flip it over. When it has been flipped, tap the sides to make it easier for the dough to separate from the bundt pan.
  • With the help of a sieve, dust it with powdered sugar.

Whether you prepare this Monkey Bread as a tasty treat, or serve it as a part of the festive meal for the coming holidays, its flavor will surely be one that will make the celebration even more memorable. Just make sure to let the dough rest and rise with ample time so you will get the fluffiest mouthful with each bite.
