Your favorite salty or sugary fast food are oh-so-tempting as they are cheap and convenient. However, excess saturated fat which can be consumed through most junk foods, can take a toll on your health. Due to that, people nowadays are trying to have a more nutritious and healthier alternative that are equally as quick and easy to make at home.
Preparing home-cooked meals can sometimes take more time than wanted, making unprocessed whole food out of our options. Despite that, having a proper meal is important as it gives you the energy and nutrition needed to power through the day.
These three dishes are perfect for rushed meals as it doesn’t need much preparation and cooking time. The amount also makes it a great choice for those don’t have a lot of mouths to feed.
Healthy and scrumptious. This dish has equal amounts of beef and broccoli to be able to fulfill the needed nutrition to work through the day. With the soft yet chewy texture of the beef and subtle crunch of the broccoli, the two textures will be able to entice you.
Ingredients:
– 500 g beef strips
– 1 tsp. baking soda
– 3 Tbsps. soy sauce
– 4 Tbsps. cornstarch
– ½ tsp. black pepper
– Water, for boiling
– Salt
– 2 cups broccoli
– 1 cup chicken stock
– 3 Tbsps. soy sauce
– 3 Tbsps. oyster sauce
– 2 tsps. sugar
– 2 Tbsps. cornstarch
– Oil, for sautéing
– 5 cloves garlic
Marinated Beef:
– 1 Tbsp. ginger
– 4 Tbsps. onion
Sauce:
– Black pepper, to taste
– Sesame oil, to finish
Garnish:
– Fried garlic
Procedure:
1. Cut the beef across the grain and pound it. Add baking soda to make it tender. Season with soy sauce. Add cornstarch and black pepper. Mix well. Set it aside.
2. In a pot, boil the water and add salt. Put the broccoli in and let it blanch for 10 seconds. On the side, prepare an ice bath to stop the broccoli from cooking.
3. In a bowl, add chicken stock, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Mix until everything is dissolved.
4. In a pan, put the oil in. Add the garlic before the oil heats up. Once the garlic becomes crunchy, place it in a bowl. Set aside.
5. In the same pan, using the garlic-infused oil, sauté the beef. Add the ginger and onion. Stir, then add the sauce. Season with black pepper. Finish with sesame oil. Then add the broccoli. Stir them all together.
6. Top it with the fried garlic and serve while hot.
Fluffy and flavorful. It is a gathering of soft eggs that are filled with savory ingredients that will lighten your taste buds with every bite. Like a pizza, but only with the delight of eggs.
Ingredients:
– Oil, for sautéing
– ½ cup bacon
– ¼ cup onion
– 1 ½ cup potato
– 1 pc. green bell pepper
– 1 pc. red bell pepper
– ½ tsp. dried oregano
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 6- 8 pcs. eggs
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– ½ cup cheese
Garnish:
– Parsley
Procedure:
1. In a pan, heat the oil. Sauté the bacon. Let the fat render. Add the onion, potato, salt, black pepper, red and green bell peppers, and dried herbs.
2. Crack 6 eggs and put it all in a bowl. Beat the eggs. Add salt, pepper, the sautéed vegetables and bacon, and cheese. Mix well.
3. Using the same pan, heat the oil to medium heat. Pour the entire mixture into the pan and cover.
4. Grab a big plate that is enough to cover the pan and place it on top. Flip the pan quickly, then put the flipped Frittata back into the pan and cover.
5. Press the center of the Frittata to check if it is cooked.
Saucy and with a bite. The crunch that comes from the blanched French beans add a fresh crunch to the bouncy bite of the chicken and the delicate texture of the mushrooms. Its sauce will coat the freshly cooked rice with all its savory flavors.
Ingredients:
– 3 Tbsps. oil
– 3 cloves garlic, sliced
– 200 g. French beans
– ½ kg. chicken breast
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 2 Tbsps. cornstarch
– 4 pcs. dried chili
– 3 Tbsps. soy sauce
– 2 Tbsps. oyster sauce
– 4 Tbsps. sweet chili sauce
– 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
– Black pepper
– 1 cup button mushrooms
– Salt
Garnish:
– Toasted sesame seeds
– Onion leeks
Procedure:
1. In a pan, toast the sesame seeds. After toasting, put it in a bowl. Set aside.
2. Using the same pan, heat the oil and sauté the garlic.
3. While the garlic is cooking, prepare the chicken. Cut it into cubes, then season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Add the cornstarch and mix again. Let it rest.
4. When the garlic is cooked, put it in a bowl. Set aside.
5. In the same pan, using the garlic-infused oil, sauté the French beans. Season with salt. Once cooked, put it on a plate. Set aside.
6. Using the same oil, sauté the chicken. Add the dried chilies.
7. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a bowl, add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sweet chili sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
8. Season the mushrooms with salt, then add it into the pan. Pour in the sauce, then add the French beans. Toss it again.
9. Top with sesame seeds, onion leeks, and toasted garlic. Serve while hot.
