A soupy dish is always the best way to comfort your chilled body during rainy days. With every spoonful, warmth flows into your body and eliminates the coolness that comes from the cold breeze of the season.

With a delectable broth that contains the savory flavor of chicken, the unique taste that hotdogs bring, and the mildly sweet essence of fresh vegetables and sweetcorn – this delightful sopas not only warms your soul but also delights your taste buds.

Pinoy Sopas

Ingredients

For Sauté:

  • Oil, for sautéing
  • 3 Tbsps. margarine
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrot, diced
  • 1/4 cup celery, chopped
  • Season with salt

For the Meat:

  • 500 g. ground pork
  • 2 pcs. Maggi Magic Chicken Cubes

For the Soup:

  • 4 L water
  • 2 cups macaroni pasta
  • 6 pcs. hotdog, sliced
  • 1 can canned sweet corn, with brine
  • 1 pc. cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cups Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • Fish sauce and black pepper, to taste

Garnish:

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Celery leaves, chopped

Instructions

  • Slice the hotdog and smash the garlic.
  • In a pot, heat the oil and margarine. Sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Season with salt. Add the ground pork. Toss it all together.
  • After the ground pork is cooked, add the Maggi Magic Chicken Cubes and flour. Mix well and let it cook for 1 - 2 minutes, then pour in the boiling water. Once all the water has been poured into the pot, add the macaroni noodles and let it boil until the noodles become tender.
  • Cover the pot and leave it to cook for 12 minutes.
  • While the soup is cooking, chop the cabbage and celery leaves.
  • Once the macaroni noodles are nearing al dente, add the hotdog, sweet corn, cabbage, and evaporated milk. Lower the heat so the Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk does not curdle. Let it cook for 1 - 2 minutes.
  • Season with fish sauce and black pepper. Make sure to taste the soup and adjust the seasoning. Leave it to cook.
  • Garnish with celery leaves. Finish with a hard-boiled egg.

Now that the rainy season is here, having a fresh bowl of warm soup is an absolute must. Catching a cold is not uncommon, especially with the cold winds blowing the rain your way and tossing your only protection, the umbrella around. Stay warm this rainy season with Chef Tatung’s Pinoy Sopas!
